I listen to a lot of podcasts while doing lab work and find that most of the science-themed podcasts focus so much on experiments and ideas that they tend to neglect the people behind the big discoveries we make every day. We often forget that science is a human endeavor, that real people with histories, struggles, insecurities, and perspectives are ultimately the ones doing the pipetting at the bench.

In 2016, I first had the idea to start an interview podcast about the "human" aspects of STEM, with the goal of providing a platform for voices from underrepresented groups in science such as women, racial and ethnic minorities, and those in the LGBTQ+ community. I hope that highlighting the narratives of a diverse range of scientists (and not just the details of their experiments) will enable younger students to envision a future for themselves in the scientific endeavor.
